What is Dhamma-Vinaya and what is not

I have heard that at one time the Blessed One was staying at Vesali, in the Peaked Roof Hall in the Great Forest.

Then Mahapajapati Gotami went to the Blessed One and, on arrival, having bowed down to him, stood to one side. As she was standing there she said to him: "It would be good, lord, if the Blessed One would teach me the Dhamma in brief such that, having heard the Dhamma from the Blessed One, I might dwell alone, secluded, heedful, ardent, & resolute."

"Gotami, the qualities of which you may know, 'These qualities lead to passion, not to dispassion; to being fettered, not to being unfettered; to accumulating, not to shedding; to self-aggrandizement, not to modesty; to discontent, not to contentment; to entanglement, not to seclusion; to laziness, not to aroused persistence; to being burdensome, not to being unburdensome': You may categorically hold, 'This is not the Dhamma, this is not the Vinaya, this is not the Teacher's instruction.'

"As for the qualities of which you may know, 'These qualities lead to dispassion, not to passion; to being unfettered, not to being fettered; to shedding, not to accumulating; to modesty, not to self-aggrandizement; to contentment, not to discontent; to seclusion, not to entanglement; to aroused persistence, not to laziness; to being unburdensome, not to being burdensome': You may categorically hold, 'This is the Dhamma, this is the Vinaya, this is the Teacher's instruction.'"

That is what the Blessed One said. Gratified, Mahapajapati Gotami delighted at his words.

อะไรเป็นพระธรรมวินัย อะไรไม่ใช่พระธรรมวินัย

สมัยหนึ่ง พระผู้มีพระภาคประทับอยู่ ณ กูฏาคารศาลา ป่ามหาวัน ใกล้พระนครเวสาลี ครั้งนั้นแล พระนางมหาปชาบดีโคตมีเสด็จเ​ข้าไปเฝ้าพระผู้มีพระภาคถึง​ที่ประทับ ถวายบังคมแล้วประทับยืน ณ ที่ควรส่วนข้างหนึ่ง

ครั้นแล้ว ได้กราบทูลพระผู้มีพระภาคว่า ข้าแต่พระองค์ผู้เจริญ ขอประทานพระวโรกาส ขอพระผู้มีพระภาคทรงแสดงธรร​มโดยย่อแก่หม่อมฉัน ซึ่งหม่อมฉันได้ฟังแล้ว จะพึงเป็นผู้หลีกออกจากหมู่​อยู่ผู้เดียว ไม่ประมาท มีความเพียร มีใจเด็ดเดี่ยวอยู่เถิด ฯ

พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสว่า ดูกรโคตมี ท่านพึงรู้ธรรมเหล่าใดว่า ธรรมเหล่านี้เป็นไป:

๐ เพื่อความกำหนัด ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความคลายกำหนัด
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อประกอบสัตว์ไว้ ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อพรากสัตว์ออก
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อสั่งสมกิเลส ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อไม่สั่งสมกิเ​ลส
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อความเป็นผู้มักม​าก ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความเป็นผู้มักน้อย
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อความไม่สันโดษ ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความสันโดษ
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อความคลุกคลีด้วย​หมู่คณะ ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความสงัด
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อความเกียจคร้าน ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อปรารภความเพี​ยร
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อความเป็นคนเลี้ย​งยาก ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความเป็นคน
เลี้ยงง่าย

ดูกรโคตมี ท่านพึงทรงจำไว้โดยส่วนหนึ่​งว่า "นี้ไม่ใช่ธรรม ไม่ใช่วินัยไม่ใช่คำสั่งสอน​ของพระศาสดา ฯ"

ดูกรโคตมี ท่านพึงรู้ธรรมเหล่าใดว่า ธรรมเหล่านี้เป็นไป
๐ เพื่อคลายกำหนัด ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความกำหนัด
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อไม่ประกอบสัตว์ไ​ว้ ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อประกอบสัตว์ไ​ว้
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อไม่สั่งสมกิเลส ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อสั่งสมกิเลส
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อความเป็นผู้มักน้อย ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความเป็นผู้มักมาก
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อสันโดษไม่เป็นไป​เพื่อไม่สันโดษ
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อความสงัด ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความคลุกคลีด้วยหมู่คณะ
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อปรารภความเพียร ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความเกียจคร้​าน
๐ เป็นไปเพื่อความเป็นคนเลี้ย​งง่าย ไม่เป็นไปเพื่อความเป็นคนเลี้ยงยาก

ดูกรโคตมี ท่านพึงทรงจำไว้โดยส่วนหนึ่​งว่า "นี้เป็นธรรมเป็นวินัย เป็นคำสั่งสอนของพระศาสดา ฯ"
